UTAH FLOODPLAIN AND STORMWATER MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE Agenda  Field Trip Map

Our annual conference is always a success largely because of the local experts who share their challenges and successes from the past year. We also have national speakers to bring in new perspectives and share their stories. Each year at the conference, we have an awards banquet where we recognize those who have excelled in floodplain or stormwater management. We are currently planning on an in-person conference, but will shift to virtual if needed.

The Conference registration fee is $155.00 (Member), $210.00 (non-member) for early birds, and will go up to $200.00 (member), $250 (non-member) after August 18, 2021. We will also be offering two Tuesday Pre-conference Trainings (NFIP 101 at $20.00 and an Early Bird 4 hour training on Benefit Cost Anaylsis). The CFM exam will also be offered on Tuesday following the NFIP 101 course. If you are planning to take the CFM exam you MUST register at least two weeks in advance of the conference at www.floods.org.

General conference registration includes all your materials, breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and business meeting meal. The UFSMA annual conference is always a educative conference with informative speakers. We look forward to seeing you and hearing fantastic presentations!

NFIP 101 Training - All Day Tuesday November 16th

FEMA Benefit Cost Anaylsis Training - Tuesday, November 16th 1 PM-5 PM. Session Description: A Benefit-Cost Analysis (BCA) is a necessary component of many FEMA mitigation grant applications. BCAs helps communities evaluate the cost-effectiveness of proposed mitigation projects by estimating the future risk reduction benefits of an action while comparing those benefits to the associated costs. This workshop serves as an introductory overview of Benefit-Cost Analysis concepts, requirements, and software as they relate to evaluating the cost effectiveness of flood mitigation projects. The session will include a mix of presentation, discussion, and hands on practice with the FEMA BCA Toolkit.  The primary audience is state, local, and tribal hazard mitigation staff; floodplain managers; and engineering consultants involved in the grant application development process who provide technical assistance.
