NFIP 101 and CFM Exam
The State Floodplain Program and UFSMA will be hosting the NFIP 101 workshop and CFM Exam.
Date: March 18, 2020
Time: 7:30 am- 3:30 pm (NFIP 101)
3:30 pm - 6:30 pm (CFM Exam)
Course Description: This workshop is designed to introduce or refresh local officials of their responsiblity for administering their local floodplain management ordinances. It will focus on the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and concepts of floodplain management, maps and studies, ordinances administration, local official responsibilities, and the relationship between floodplain management and flood insurance. Please note: the NFIP 101 workshop is not intended to take the place of any study preparation for the CFM exam.
Target Audience: Local officials responsible for administering local floodplain management ordinances, including floodplain management administration, building inspectors, code enforcement/zoning officers, planners, city/county managers, attorneys, engineers, and public work officials. Federal/state/regional floodplain managers are also encouraged to attend.
CFM Exam: You do not need to take the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) exam to attend the workshop. However, if you plan to take the CFM exam, you first need to contact the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) to register for the exam. Applicants can obtain an application form on the ASFPM website www.floods.org at the Certification Program tab. All CFM® applications must be received at the office of ASFPM at least 2 weeks prior to the exam date for review and approval. No walk-ins will be allowed.
